for 10th grade (‘90 or ‘91) my parents wanted me in a larger yeshiva so they sent me to L.A. to study at Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon Chabad (it sucked, i got suspended for collecting new era fitteds, i had every american & national league team (NOT EASY TO FIND IN 6 7/8). i bought them downtown in the alley on fridays when we got out of school early to do #mivtzoim (put on tefillin with other jewish men). One day the rabbis broke in my dorm room and confiscated all my caps. (I only even ever wore them in phys-ed!!) yet still they had a problem with it/me. As much as I’ve always loved a uniform, I love mixing in my own flavor- and at a chassidish’e yeshiva there isn’t much room for that. Come to think of it, I got away with quite a bit…while all chassidishe’ yeshivas do not have the same uniform, they all pretty much require a white button up and dark trouser/pant. This yeshiva was slightly lenient (i now can’t believe they let me wear the plaid shirt and turtleneck)… FOR THE RECORD IM NOT A SPORTS FAN (but i do like uniforms, people and crowds)
