December 28, 2017 for 10th grade (‘90 or ‘91) my parents wanted me in a larger yeshiva so they sent me to L.A. to study at Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon Chabad (it sucked, i got suspended for collecting new era fitteds, i had every american & national league team (NOT EASY TO FIND IN 6 7/8). i bought them downtown in the alley on fridays when we got out of school early to do #mivtzoim (put on tefillin with other jewish men). One day the rabbis broke in my dorm room and confiscated all my caps. (I only even ever wore them in phys-ed!!) yet still they had a problem with it/me. As much as I’ve always loved a uniform, I love mixing in my own flavor- and at a chassidish’e yeshiva there isn’t much room for that. Come to think of it, I got away with quite a bit…while all chassidishe’ yeshivas do not have the same uniform, they all pretty much require a white button up and dark trouser/pant. This yeshiva was slightly lenient (i now can’t believe they let me wear the plaid shirt and turtleneck)… FOR THE RECORD IM NOT A SPORTS FAN (but i do like uniforms, people and crowds)
December 27, 2017 I was on a stroll around flat iron a few yrs ago (was working for kate/JACK SPADE at the time) and on a lunchbreak saw Karl walking in front of me. His butler was walking along side of him carrying a glass of (diet?) coke on a tray. I followed him for a block or so and saw a FENDI set he was ‘shooting’ (he had a few pros setting cameras up and stuff (thy helped him click the button). It was fun to watch. The models were in front of a giant Fendi logo that looked like a richard serra (rusty). i watched for a while but the whole time all I was thinking about was Karl’s dangly bow tie. It really bothers me when fellas have that gap between the tie and the shirt but I think that’s Karl’s thing so I left him alone.
December 26, 2017 I love uniform, I especially love when someone in uniform finds a way to express their personal style. Not always easy/allowed.
