To you he may look like a regular dude- Of course to me he’s a diamond. His green wool shirt and green t shirt initially caught my eye. Then it was his old Alan Mikli frames with contrasting temples and his beret. But his flannel wool sweatpants with Hush Puppie loafers were pretty radical. After talking for a minute I learned that his 1st job in N.Y. was designing at Mr. Mort. After a few days of him impressing the pants off everyone with his sketches and designs, Stan Herman asked to speak with him and told him “There is only 1 star here at Mr. Mort and that is me”. So he packed up and left.
Say what you will, you always do! I love his suede jacket cut somewhat like a denim jacket. His heavy denim shirt is fantastic with its big pockets. I hate wimpy pockets! The belt is one of those I don’t love but oh so American. His scarf is very Euro and especially how he tied it, but I like.
OK, I dont love his shoes, but givethe fella a break! He’s straight killing it head to hem.
Love a painting where I can say ‘nice tie, love how his collar is up’. I shoot what inspires me, love art as if it were a tie itself. In this case i shot this and other pieces that are clothing/fashion related for me anyhow…
And the guys that are walking the show looking at art. They are most of the time too cool. In the best way. The coolest rich old dudes almost always have great style at these sorta things. Tweed, wide wale corduroys, double vents, great fits, Borsalinos, cashmeres, khakis, boat shoes, belted coats, tattersalls and messy hair!
All this Tattersall and wool, Lovethe ballcap too. If youre wearing a blazer and jeans, it best be a weekend! Since thats the cool guy uniform in NYC these days…
The boy in his pleats! Amazing, love his striped T shirt and pleated pants!
And this guys pants! A few pleats found here.
This lil fella is on point with his fair isle sweater/ flannel shirt. Too cool!
Creeper shoes which I am really feeling at the moment and some flag jeans!
And back to some classics! Check my mans turtleneck (ultra fine merino??) Cuffed khaki pants And those woven leather loafers!
The double cashemere knit program! I’m a fan. Especially with a tweed blazer.
Calvin Klein The Man Himself
The coolest look I saw was this guy, outside the show as I was leaving and he was pretty beat from walking with a stroller Im guessing, but Thank you for stopping for me!
The illest most talented couple I have ever met. (No offense to some other amazingly talented couples~ Kate & Andy, Vivienne & Ward, Kurt & Ann) They have a website MaryAndMatt.net and make chocolate out of their Brooklyn home and other fun things like a Hockney Rugby shirt, chalkboard skate deck… I have had them on here before and have taken beter pictures of them no doubt- but on this day I had to capture them. I was running from the NR to the 4 Train in Union Square and ran into them, after chatting for a minute Jason Polan walked by so it was fun times for a new york minute… Love those special encounters, sometimes you meet people on the street or sidewalk and you dont feel like chatting, other times you run into special people that you cant spend enough time with… These kids dont wear matching Jordans but they sometimes wear blue sneakers on the same day. Matt only wears chuck taylors or vans eras or authentics (i forget) and I love them for this. They can draw (mary made my mustard (they both worked on my MISTER MORT logo(?). I think they both went to yale art school. regardless, I worked with Mary at kate/JACK spade where she finally finished not too long ago and is doing her own thing (BIG UPPS) While Matt does creative shit (copy? i know nothing about that world, but hes suuuuper talented) for dope ad agencies. Thyre quite the team i tell you. I dont know what the weathers like in NYC now as Im traveling, so I go to my bank of images and post what Im feeling that day. Also trying to get out the winter or colder months shots before the warm weather arrives to stay. New York, I love you.
