Digging through my archives I found this photo I made a year or two ago. He wasnt exactly in-or-out of style then, and is just as fly now- so I thought to post since Im longing for the streets of The Gotham City.
I was pretty mad when my friend Peter told me he was moving to LA, after him pleading with me to come out there, I finally paid a visit and glad I did. All the years of us chatting about Balenciaga, Alden and Turnbull are finally paying off…
When they broke down the walls, they found this really old graffiti on the bricks. Im glad they left it exposed like they did. Its not in your face- you sorta have to almost look for it..
The shop has an incredible selection of vintage shoes, boots and outerwear to compliment the new pieces by Left Field, Alden, Sugar Cane and soon to come shirts by MISTER MORT.
Love a short sleeve sweatshirt, this vintage joint is no exception !
PLease click on this here military shirt jacket and see enlarged
Run by Peter, his Lady Rosa and vintage expert Bill;is this truly magnificent shop. Really a comfortable shopping atmosphere, in fact, you only get spoken to if you so desire, otherwise help yourself! No salesman following you from item to item lecturing you about the designer and all that bullshit. Just quality garments and shoes and good conversation. The space is really nice and open, clean with a emphasis on reused wood and steel for the fixtures and quality on the clothing. Michael Williams wrote a great piece on Craft for GQ’s blog as well

What a great example of a single pleated high waisted trouser. Of course i love his Turnbull & Asser shirt with that popping pink and blue. I have been seeing a ton of khaki lately ! trench coats and pants as of late. Maybe we will see the drop crotch boys in girls jeans fad fade..
MIX-MATCH
I like what J Crew is up to. and don’t front. We’ve all been in there-been for a minute. I enjoy a pinstripe with a solid grey.. Very “Morning Suit for taking a stroll to the bank”. Theyre teaching guys it doesnt have to be precious.. Loro Piana fabrics! Thomas Mason shirtings! i mean this is the stuff royalty has their clothes made of but they offer it to the general public with no seals of the queen or anything.. These are the shirtings Turnbull and Thom Browne use!
Alden Indy Boot for J Crew!
Russell Moccasins, I dont think anyone in nyc carries them! Looks like they’ve been in the woods roughed up up a bit before they hit the store. Store, not stores, not everywhere, 1 shop in NYC..
A new style Red Wing boot. Interesting with spery sole!
This showroom always has the best vintage belts (and buckles)! i like that they dont mix in too much vintage, when you see a super vintage looking sweatshirt, they have found a way to make it look genuinely old without making it look mass produced; yet affordable.
If you have not heard of Inverallan- check them. I love old fishermans sweaters but again, hard to find because they last forever..Inverallan has been working with (and doesnt tell you on their website)the likes of Neighborhood and Beams in Japan.. Another great mature non-precious move for the crew..
These shorts might be my favorite item after the cardigan which ill never be able to buy. Id cut them off, to look like old safari shorts. large belt loops..
